About the Role
The University of the Arts London is recruiting a Research Fellow to support delivery of an EU funded research project - T-Factor: Unleashing future-facing urban hubs through culture and creativity-led strategies of waiting time.
T Factor challenges the ‘meanwhile’ in urban regeneration, the period over which regeneration masterplans are developed, approved and implemented by the relevant authorities, prior to the regenerated areas being opened to their intended uses and tenants. The project targets early stage regenerations in a diversity of historic urban areas in London, Bilbao, Amsterdam, Kaunas, Milan and Lisbon, and provides their private-public-people partnerships with a unique ecosystem of capacity-building for radically new city-making approaches. The Research Fellow will be working with local government, community, academic and industry partners across two study sites in central London. The Euston redevelopment area will be a ‘Pilot’ site and Kings Cross Central will provide an ‘Advance Case’ affording insights into strategic use of meanwhile time and space, the role and contribution of culture and creative practices, stakeholder involvement and agency and the impacts of these approaches.
Candidates should have a PhD or postgraduate qualification and relevant professional experience in spatial practice, architecture, design, urban planning, or regeneration. Your previous experience will show a substantial undertaking of qualitative and quantitative research, and authoring of academic papers, scientific publications or industry reports. You will have experience of working with diverse stakeholders including local government, industry, higher education institutions and communities. You will also be required to demonstrate relevant experience of public engagement/facilitation.
What We Offer
University of the Arts London is a vibrant world centre for innovation, drawing together six Colleges with international reputations in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts. Central Saint Martins is a world-leading centre for arts and design education. Its reputation stems from the creative energy of its staff and students and the stellar achievements of its graduates nationally and internationally. The nine programmes at CSM explore the boundaries of their discipline. Students and staff are continually alert to new ideas, and are curious and restless in developing beyond the expected norms of their subject, so emerging work is at the forefront of its area. CSM sits at the heart of London’s creative scene, located in one of Europe’s most dynamic new culture and innovation quarters at King’s Cross, making the college increasingly important to London’s cultural life, and indicative of our general desire to open up CSM to as broad an audience as possible.
Unfortunately, it seems like this job is not available for international candidates. Unless you’re eligible for a work visa otherwise, please double-check with the company.
