About the Role

We view sustainability as a key component of creating a high quality of life for a city’s citizens and stimulating economic growth. Housing affordability is an important aspect of a city’s long-term sustainability. We work with mayors to develop, elevate, and implement comprehensive sustainability programs and strategies. Our work includes: · Developing an overall sustainability vision that goes beyond environmental sustainability to address critical public issues and concerns · Developing and implementing strategic plans on a variety of topics, such as GHG mitigation, housing affordability, and climate resilience · Developing and implementing targeted sustainability initiatives · Creating consensus that leads to action · Engaging external partners and resources · Institutionalizing sustainability within city government Past projects have covered a range of issues including solid waste, energy planning, air quality, natural infrastructure, housing affordability, neighborhood stabilization/revitalization, energy conservation, public space creation and management, heat mitigation, and food policy. The position: Manager, Sustainability Practice We believe that housing is a foundational bedrock of a healthy, thriving city. Our Sustainability practice is seeking to add a consultant with housing affordability experience, in an urban context, to its team. In this role you’ll manage multiple workstreams, conduct deep analytical work, craft written and powerpoint documents and persuasively engage clients and the public.

What You're Gonna Do

Your responsibilities will include: · Supporting day-to-day engagement with several client cities · Conducting research and analysis in policy/program development · Facilitating meetings and workshops with City staff and partners · Creating effective and concise written communications in the form of PowerPoint presentations and memos · Assisting with additional team projects and new strategy development as assigned

About You

While no one person may embody all of the qualities enumerated below, our ideal candidate will possess many of the following: · 7-10 years’ experience of advising on housing affordability issues with strong familiarity with housing affordability and anti-gentrification programs in U.S. cities · Understanding of Federal programs and funding streams for housing · Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree in business, public policy, urban planning, real estate, or a related field preferred · Attested quantitative and qualitative analytic skills, including budgeting, finance, and/or economic analysis, including Excel modelling · Excellent organizational and time management skills. Experience and comfort in effectively managing/coordinating simultaneous projects, and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with sound judgment and a sharp eye for detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven capacity to synthesize information develop compelling narratives · Fluency in additional languages and/or experience living or working abroad a plus · Ability and desire to build, and maintain, strong relationships with others with a can-do, pragmatic and solutions-orientated approach · Comfort working in dynamic environments and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work with ambiguity shift priorities rapidly and flexibly adapt to new situations and projects.
