The Academy of Urbanism (AoU) reposted this
Was a pleasure to hand over The Academy of Urbanism (AoU) 'Best Place' award to representatives of the Hamiltonhill Claypits Local Nature Reserve Community Management Group this afternoon. Sorry guys- I've been sitting on this for 6 months but it was nice to do it on a Friday afternoon in May in the warm sunshine and hear more stories about how Claypits is thriving under your stewardship. We also discussed the lovely poem by Ian McMillan that is written on the Award Certificate and how fitting it is. It's in the nature of a place like this That nature takes a place like this and puts A smile on your face. These moments of bliss Under a Glasgow sky, no ifs or buts Just laughter, talking, sitting and striding Over the bridge from history to now From industry to a small deer biding Its time. Here is the what, the where, the how Of reinvention, Here the city breathes And this is where the city's future sings Of how, if the people truly believe We all share the treasure that nature brings Nothing's impossible. Claypits shows it Everything's doable. Claypits knows it. Ian McMillian LUC
