About the Role

This exciting role will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of practical projects that focus on developing, growing and improving the National Cycle Network (NCN) in line with the Paths for Everyone vision and the NCN Review. This will involve assisting with the delivery of projects through a range of activities including providing project management support, developing feasibility and route studies, working with consultants and contractors, supporting community engagement, developing signage, mapping and promotional initiatives. With a good standard of education, you will have experience of project management, of community consultation, outreach and engagement, of working with local authorities and community groups You will also have experience of building and maintaining productive working relationships. Your excellent written and verbal communications skills will enhance your ability to engage with local community groups and to motivate and enthuse others. You will have knowledge and understanding of best practice in providing for cyclists and pedestrians in urban and rural environments and be committed to the promotion of sustainable transport.

What You're Gonna Do

1. To assist in the long-term development and management of the National Cycle Network and other key routes and networks in Scotland (e.g. NWCN). 2. To support colleagues and partners in the successful delivery of infrastructure and engagements projects which improve and extend the NCN and other strategic routes in Scotland by providing project management support and first point of contact on specific projects. 3. To support and assist the Network Delivery Coordinator(s) to develop a project pipeline for future infrastructure projects on the NCN and other strategic routes by liaising with partners and the Design and Engineering team to develop feasibility studies. 4. To support the development and delivery of signing, way marking and artwork projects across the NCN, to include training, support and commercial opportunities. 5. To support the Networkl Delivery Coordinator(s) with preparation of tender documentations, procurement processes, commissioning and managing consultants 6. To work closely with Behaviour Change and NCN Engagement colleagues in the delivery of new infrastructure to ensure visibility of projects within their communities 7. To work effectively and collaboratively with local authorities, NGOs and other organisations to develop and progress projects. 8. To engage with the general public, Sustrans Volunteers and other external groups to gain their input and support for schemes. 9. To work with the Network Engagement Manager and Communications Officer (Network Development) to publicise and promote Network Development projects 10. To help in the progress and management of on-the-ground works, where appropriate. 11. To work with the Engineering and Design Team on projects, where appropriate. 12. To work with the Community Links team on projects, where appropriate. 13. To work with the Sustrans Ecologist on projects, where appropriate. 14. To work closely with the Land and Estates Manager and team on projects, where appropriate. 15. To work with the Director of Estates and RPL staff, where appropriate. 16. To assist in the monitoring process of projects in conjunction with the Research and Monitoring Unit, where appropriate. 17. To help manage project recording and reporting through the Project Portal and Scottish Government reports. 18. To ensure that Sustrans design standards are adhered to and best value for money is observed at all times. Communication and marketing: 19. To support and comply with the charity’s guidance on branding, tone of voice and key messages, positively contributing towards raising Sustrans’ profile. Training and personal development: 20. To attend essential Sustrans training as required by the Charity. 21. To ensure own personal development by working to objectives set as part of the Charity’s appraisal process. About You

Qualifications, education and training: 1. Good standard of education or have equivalent demonstrable experience Experience: 2. Experience of project management 3. Experience of working with local authorities, community groups or other delivery agencies 4. Experience of partnership working 5.
