The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) campaigns for the reform of the UK's planning system to promote sustainable development and social justice.

About the Role

We are seeking a temporary Project Assistant with excellent organisational skills to support a range of projects and campaigns through providing administrative, event and research support. Based in a fantastic central London location, you will be working with a small but ambitious team that is at the heart of debates on housing and planning. The principal responsibility of this post is to help ensure the effective delivery of the TCPA’s Housing and Planning projects through providing exceptional technical research and administrative support to the Projects and Policy Team. The post-holder will focus on two main projects: one related to planning for affordable housing across England, and the other related to planning for inclusive communities in London.

What You're Gonna Do

- Providing technical research support to the Projects and Policy Team through identifying and assembling relevant documents and reviewing content - Supporting the development of good practice case studies - Providing administrative and logistical support including helping to organise interviews, roundtables, focus groups and launch events - Undertaking word processing, presentation and administrative activities - Other duties as the CEO and management team may require to implement the TCPA work programme, including working with other staff, Trustees and the Policy Council

About You

Essential skills: - Interest in and very good knowledge of some or all of the following: planning, built environment, housing, and citizen engagement processes - Attention to detail and accuracy, including the ability to undertake robust research and take meeting notes - Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Good team working skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Good time keeping skills - Self-motivated and well organised, with the ability to work and produce high quality outputs to tight deadlines - Educated to degree level - Fluent in English - Sympathy with the TCPA’s aims and objectives Desirable skills: - Experience of working in a project-based environment such as a consultancy, charity or think tank - Knowledge of the UK planning system and affordable housing issues advantageous
