About the Role

Pratt Institute's Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment (GCPE) is a unique alliance of four graduate-level programs with shared values based on urban sustainability and community participation and defined by the “triple bottom line” of environment, equity, and economy. GCPE is seeking a new Assistant to the Chair to join their busy department. Under general supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment, the new Assistant to the Chair will perform a variety of tasks in support of the Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment (GCPE), a four-program unit within the School of Architecture. Reporting directly to the chairperson, the assistant will oversee routine departmental activities related to recruitment and enrollment and provide supervision to student staff and interns. Additional responsibilities involve providing support to the chairperson to achieve the goals and objectives of the department, which include but are not limited to enhancing and increasing GCPE presence on social media and other planning, preservation, place-making and environmental forums.

What You're Gonna Do

Develop and maintain familiarity with all four GCPE programs. Maintain and monitor GCPE’s current marketing plan in coordination with GCPE coordinators. Develop and update all print, digital, and multi-media marketing and recruitment materials for all four GCPE programs. Identify and counsel prospective students. Staff recruitment events. Organize and manage recruitment and enrollment communications and databases. Manage all media files and implement shared file configurations. Coordinate graduate assistant work relating to the creation of annual departmental and publications. Maintain multimedia archive on a shared drive. Coordinate print publication of course reports and their digital transmittal to web platforms. Using the 2019 CRP Strategic Plan and student learning outcomes assessment rubrics, monitor, report and disseminate progress made toward stated goals and objectives. Other duties as needed.

About You

Criteria - Bachelors Degree - Two years of administrative experience (experience with communications, marketing, enrollment, or publications management can count toward degree requirement) - Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. - An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. - Demonstrated excellence in the use of Adobe Suite tools - Demonstrated excellence in the use of social media outlets - Mastery of Excel, MS Word, web-based applications and customer management platforms - Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion - Advanced communications skills - Collaborative approach to the work environment and ability to learn quickly and work with others. Preferred qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field - Four years of administrative experience, at least two with communications, marketing, enrollment, or publications management in an office setting. - Web design experience. - Interest in planning, preservation, place-making, or environmental studies. - Preference for working with a mission-based organization. - Prior experience in higher education.
