About Us

The new Global Resilient Cities Network (GRCN) emerges from the 100 Resilient Cities Program with a unique reach, strength and legacy to understand and support the challenges of the ever-growing urban society. GRCN is the city-led organization that will drive urban resilience action to protect vulnerable communities from climate change and other physical, social and economic urban adversities and challenges. With support from The Rockefeller Foundation and other funding partners, the Network aims to continue supporting cities and their Chief Resilience Officers in future-proofing their communities and critical infrastructure.

About the Role

The Development and Impact Strategist will play a critical role in two key pieces of our city-led, impact and future-focused work at GRCN: - The management of key development partnerships and funding opportunities that support the organization and implementation of projects in our cities, and - The curation of coherent messaging about of key learnings from our cities, especially as related to emerging shocks and stresses like the COVID-19 pandemic and its cascading effects. In addition, he/she will be able to skillfully manage relationships, partners, resources, timelines, vendors, and budgets with professionalism, transparency and foresight. He/she will demonstrate flexibility and interest in supporting a collaborative team and have exceptional project management skills to help achieve the desired outcomes.

What You're Gonna Do

Initial responsibilities include but are not limited to: Development Partnerships and Fundraising a. Research a wide variety of new funding opportunities and assess fit to organization goals, themes, values and geography in support of overall GRCN Global Strategic Partnerships framework and process b. Write and edit grant/funding proposals collaboratively with the GRCN team, specifically with finance and thematic action/program areas, leading proposal concepts and coordinating contributions from throughout the organization c. Create and maintain partnership and fundraising tracking database and application calendar, as well as issue required interim and final reports needed for funders d. Assist with impact stories or case studies based on GRCN Member Cities’ work and solutions in coordination with the knowledge and impact teams e. Link data sets on city resilience work to knowledge platforms and engaging the Network f. Support for writing proposals to align resources to support cities’ responses to the COVID19 crisis and other priority themes g. Maintain necessary online accounts, grant platforms

About You

Bachelor’s degree with least 5 years of proven experience in partnership building and fundraising for nonprofit organizations, preferably with regional and global reach · Strong information and monitoring/evaluation skills and experience in a nonprofit or corporate setting, preferably with regional and global reach · Exceptional writing, budgeting and reporting related to fundraising and partnership development in a nonprofit/NGO setting · Knowledge of strategic communication, marketing, social media and public relations preferred · Exceptional project cycle and proposal deadline management skills · Solid operational skills, including ability to work and deliver projects to deadlines independently and proactively · Skilled in using software to produce and format applications, reports, knowledge and storytelling outputs including MS Office Suite, design, communications, website software knowledge a plus · Experience with fields such as international relations, urban planning, sustainable development, climate change, social equity, economics, political science, disaster risk reduction, or financing for urban development strongly preferred · Full professional proficiency in oral and written English strictly required - as a global organization, knowledge of additional languages a plus.

What We Offer

GRCN will offer an initial external part-time consulting contract of 6 months to the right candidate, potentially renewable upon successful performance and budgetary sufficiency. The Consultant will be required to work full-time from US based office and/or remotely. The position implies only a small amount of domestic and international travel.
