An exciting new opportunity has arisen for the position of Key Cities Policy Assistant working across a national network of 22 cities across England and Wales. We are looking for candidates with a strong passion for national politics to help drive forward and promote our shared economic interests to central government. About us Key Cities is a group of 22 mid-sized cities and urban areas across the UK, with a combined population of nearly six million people and contribute over £135bn a year to the UK economy. Our members are: Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bradford, Carlisle, Coventry, Doncaster, Gloucester, Hull, Kirklees, Lancaster, Medway, Newport, Norwich, Portsmouth, Preston, Plymouth, Salford, Southampton, Southend-on-sea, Sunderland, Wakefield and Wolverhampton. Salford City Council currently performs the role of Secretariat for the group in which the role will be based. You will provide day to day policy and administrative support to the national Key Cities Group – a network of 22 mid-sized cities and urban areas across the UK who work together to champion our places and provide a unified voice for urban Britain. As part of your role, you will directly support the Key Cities Chair and Deputy Chairs and liaise with member authorities to organise and attend meetings, and support the networks’ lobbying and communications campaigns. Using research and evidence-based insight, you will also produce high quality briefings and reports, along with managing the Key Cities website and social media channels.
