About the Role

The University of Barcelona, through its affiliate association Fundació Bosch iGimpera is looking for a pre-doc researcher specialized in social impact assessment of government programmes in the field of culture. PhD candidates working on this specific research topic will be preferred. The selected candidate will work on the Horizon 2020 project MESOC (Measuring the Social Dimension of Culture), which addresses the topic TRANSFORMATIONS-08-2019 –“The societal value of culture and the impact of cultural policies in Europe”. MESOC brings together aconsortium of ten partners from seven countries, coordinated by the University of Valencia (Spain). The aim of the project is to propose, test and validate an innovative and original approach to measuring the societal value and impacts of culture and cultural policies and practices, related to three crossover themes of the new European Agenda for Culture: a) Health and Wellbeing, 2) Urban and Territorial Renovation and 3) People’s Engagement and Participation. We are looking for a pre-doc researcherwho is currently undertaking a PhD in the area ofsocial impact assessmentof government programmes in the field of culture. Previous research on cultural policy assessment will be highly valued, as will experience working in or with governmental cultural programmes. The selected researcher will participate in the MESOC project, carrying out research activity related mainly toWork Package 4 (WP4 - Transition based Impact Assessment Method)led by the University of Barcelona. Furthermore, the selected researcher will also contribute with his/her expertise to other work packages and projects. We are looking for a candidate with excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative. The researcher will also require excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish (knowledge of Catalan will be considered a plus).Capacity for autonomous organization of workload and adaptation to circumstances and potentially time pressure is necessary, as well as a strong sense of responsibility and adherence to strict deadlines. The position offered is a part-time position from November 2020 to October 2021(1 year – renewable). The job position is based at the University of Barcelona - School of Economics and Business.
