About the Role

CITIES Foundation works on research, events, projects and publications around cutting-edge challenges facing cities worldwide, like energy, transport, food, waste and civic society. All this action calls for special skills in communication. Do you have a knack for distilling diverse information into sharp communication points, developing narratives and sifting out key messages from an overflow of information. If so this Communications Internship is for you.

What You're Gonna Do

In this role, you will implement and help to develop the communication plan, co-write a monthly newsletter, research on sustainable and social innovation (reduction of plastic pollution and waste management, food and transport systems, urban social issues and community initiatives). You will, as well, work with our digital channels feeding social media, contributing to content management and connecting with urban actors across Amsterdam, the Netherlands and the world. Digital platforms like WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn will be your tools.

About You

- Excellent English writing and communication skills - Intensely stimulated by urban related news, especially about society, sustainability and community engagement - Work well individually and in teams - A bold and independent type of person Additionally we prefer that you have: - Proficiency in Dutch - Web(site) knowledge • Communications experience

What We Offer

You need to be available 2-3 days a week. Working days are flexible, however, the team meetings are on Monday and staff are asked when possible to attend. The position is unpaid for the first 3 months, then conditions will be discussed.
