About the Programme

On this study excursion we will show you how one of the world’s leading cycling cities is approaching cycling and mobility: through experimentation, user-centered design, and a focus on the cycling experience. Afterwards, we give you resources and avenues for continued learning to work towards transformation in your city. *Why this excursion?* You will meet internationally-oriented cycling experts and ride along through key local cases that reflect broader trends occurring in Amsterdam. You will also become part of a larger network of both the Urban Cycling Institute and Bicycle User Experience (BUX), rich with resources and avenues for next steps after your visit. *Logistics* The study excursions take place from 16:00-18:00 most Saturdays in July and August*. The cost is €50 per person. There are 15 open spots per excursion. Participants need to arrange their own bicycle to take part. Dates: July: 23, 31*(July 31st is a Sunday) August: 6, 13, 20, 27

Who's Coming

This is an entry point to those wanting to experience what a city is like where cycling is possible for a wide variety of use cases and diverse types of people. You are curious what this means and are reflecting on how it could happen in your city. Perhaps action in your own city will come later, or perhaps you are already taking steps.

About You

There are no restrictions by role or profession. You will get the most out of it if you are ready to challenge your preconceptions, and see that even Amsterdam is still learning.

About Us

BUX is on a mission to change the way bicycle infrastructure is designed & made so that it is more user-friendly. We help urban mobility professionals and organizations learn how to think from the perspective of diverse end users of the street. We envision cities where cycling is an inclusive, accessible everyday form of transportation that fits into people’s lives and benefits all. BUX offers trainings (both online and on-site) and case-specific advice. If you want to understand the ‘why’ - the mechanics behind why some infrastructure works while others will not be used- we invite you to explore our open courses and methods. Our goal is to equip you with the tools and mindset to make change in your city and working context.
