About the Programme

Design studio for urban experiences for Cities will hold an "Urbanist Camp" in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in May 2023, gathering urbanists from all over the world for collaborative production of local research and exhibitions. As such, participants for the program are being recruited. The program will systematically cover field research overseas, networking with local urbanists and creative hubs, and planning/design output. Week1: Field Research Multiple field research will be conducted in various areas in/around Ho Chi Minh City. The first step is to enter the area and extract elements that may become challenges or inspirations. Week2: Site visits and interviews / Exhibition planning and design You will visit design studios and creative hubs that are currently the focus of attention in Ho Chi Minh City. You will also interview urbanists who are practicing unique activities. Exhibition planning will start in the second half of the week. Week3: Exhibition preparation and creation Working and creation period for “for Cities Week” in week 4. Our local collaborators will be available to assist you if needed. Week4: for Cities Week 2024 An exhibition of research results will be held in the exhibition venue and the neighborhood. Workshops, talk events, and tours are planned in addition to showcasing the research outcome. Please find all necessary information about the program and how to apply via the link below!

About Us

for Cities is an international collective of urban practitioners and thinkers working in Asian cities. We provide an urban "repository" — an online idea bank — where emerging practitioners in the field of urbanism (architects, urban planners, civil activists, policymakers, researchers, artists, journalists, and more) can showcase their practices and ideas. From our repository, people can find inspiration, useful tools, happenings related to architecture and urbanism, and even future collaborators for their local projects. We select the finest ideas from the platform and introduce them to established, high-profile companies as well as local goverments and other related institutions who are looking for new inspiration in their projects and new practitioners to help them achieve their goals. We also host an annual city festival & exhibition in multiple Asian cities to share, test, and learn from these ideas.
