About the Event
Whether you work in urban research, governance, design, or innovation, join this unique international platform to learn about how the latest innovations become real-world practices, exchange insights, and build new connections.
From 14 to 16 April 2026, the third edition of the AMS Scientific Conference will take place in Amsterdam. This year’s theme is ‘Reinventing the City: Connecting the Dots, Closing the Loops’, a showcase of how researchers, policymakers, students, and professionals are meeting urban challenges head-on.
Cities are places where major transitions converge: from mobility and energy to circularity, climate adaptation, digitalization, and urban food systems. During three conference days, participants will explore how existing knowledge, innovations, and practices can be better connected across disciplines, sectors, and stakeholders—to accelerate the transition towards resilient, regenerative, and just cities.
With keynotes from some of the foremost leaders in academia, government, and practice:
- Anacláudia Rossbach (Executive Director of UN-Habitat,
- Catharina Bening (Group Leader for Circular Economy at ETH Zürich),
- Babette Porcelijn (Writer and Founder of Think Big Act Now),
- James Evans (Professor of Human Geography at the University of Manchester),
- Peter Pelzer (Professor of Spatial Planning and Strategy at TU Delft),
- Diederik Samsom (Activist, Politician, Strategist, and Entrepreneur).
The program combines inspiring keynotes, 150+ expert talks, 20+ interactive workshops, and meaningful connections offering ample room for exchange between science, policy, and practice.
