Come work with us for more sustainable, inclusive and creative cities

Nordic CityMaking as a movement looks for ways how to enable more interaction between citymakers from different countries. Nordic CityMaking Week is an annual celebration of cities and the people who make them. The theme of the 2021 edition in ‘Common ground – common place’.

Whether you are a professional working with urban development, a student wanting to understand Nordic cities better, or a community activist looking for inspiring cases and connections, this week is for you.

Why join?

NCMWeek connects to exciting new developments in all three cities – from waterfronts to campus areas, from new neighbourhoods to old buildings looking for concepts of reuse. The festival is ‘a conference without walls’ where topics of discussion are connected directly to real life questions and opportunities.

The sessions will bring together leading politicians, planners, executives of companies, entrepreneurs, activists, artists, journalists, researchers, students – all in the spirit of CityMaking.

By joining you will meet people who want to

  • share ideas and examples of great places and bold initiatives in cities,

  • work in collaboration with decision-makers,

  • explore sustainable and inclusive change, both in systems and on the ground,

  • make, break, think, act and learn how to better our cities together.

Interested in an internship?

During 9–12 November NCMW2021 will host seminars, round table talks and workshops as well as numerous site visits. As a ‘conference without walls’ the event week will spread to different neighbourhoods of Turku, Vantaa and Helsinki and connect the topics to real life developments.

Interns will join the production team and help the festival by:

  • making compelling social media posts and other forms of communication

  • connecting to our international guests and assisting them in getting around

  • making all participants feel welcome at the festival by making registation and other practicalities as smooth as possible

If you are interested in making your internship part of your studies, don’t hesitate to reach to us by filling the form below, or by contacting us directly: contact@nordiccitymaking.fi
