Diana Raiselis great to hear about this ongoing work‼️the night studies/practice disciplines are resolutely building. Congrats colleagues near & far propelling awareness of #cities at #night
Very, very proud to have Creative Footprint Sydney out in the world as of just a couple weeks ago: https://lnkd.in/eu6QaTBY I’ve been watching, listening and learning from this side of the world as Sydney and New South Wales’ O24HEC has worked over recent years to build its knowledge and capacity, in order to develop a better-resourced local nightlife ecosystem that's more equitable and accessible—and it’s been a pleasure to lead CFP Sydney’s report development as one small part of that process. Huge big gratitude to Jane Slingo for her amazing local leadership, Amir Alexander Salem for his stellar management, Maarten van Brederode Michael Fichman Itay Porat Miriam Cherayil Richard Foster for the sharp analysis and writing cameraderie, Kieran Hennessy, Bryony Calleia and @Andrew Work for their research contributions and coordination, Jessie Dymond Barber for PR and communication, Thamar Luthart and @Jack Waghorn and Jakub Oleskevic for making it look amazing—and as ever Lutz Leichsenring and Mirik Milan Gelders for their leadership. Already getting shoutouts in Mixmag Asia (https://lnkd.in/eTujaCKG), Resident Advisor (https://ra.co/news/79931), and Mixdown Mag (https://lnkd.in/ehYqtAVu) — looking forward to see where we go from here 💪

How would you handle this 24. Hour conundrum? Really, no food? Michael Fichman Corean Reynolds Amy Lamé Allison Harnden Lutz Leichsenring
Back in 1995 I questioned the idea of the '24hr city' as an unalloyed philosophical good. It is a misunderstood term that, more than ever, is sprayed about without the careful unpacking it needs. "Milan’s Mayor Giuseppe Sala said “This idea of the 24-hour city in which there are no opening hours, always open, no longer convinces me so much” https://lnkd.in/ebSTX8Ev
Why is Milan banning late night takeaways in its city centre?

Hello International Nighttime Design Initiative (NTD) afficianados. The new Setha Low book “Why public space matters” is an exellant introduction for you and your colleagues that may need case studies and evaluative processes to present to clients and city #government. She focused on a social justice framework for evaluating #publicspace. We can extrapolate these ideas for #nighttimedesign and #urbanlighting
Creative Director | Leader | Urban Lighting Designer | Nighttime Designer | Public Speaker | Podcast Guest
Design Trust for Public Space organized a great event around the new Setha Low book “Why Public Space Matters” moderated by Quilian Riano with respondants Matthew Clarke and Ya-Ting Liu last night: Why does public space matter? That was discussed throughout an animated evening with a full house at AIA New York | Center for Architecture. Ya-Ting Liu focused on implementation - and the complexity of getting things done in government. I queried about her point of view and the role of the city in creating a program of pilots with a view to permanence. Of course, NYC is testing a number of approaches to public space. My agenda: How about pilots for #publicspace afterdark? #nighttimedesign #nightshift #nighttimeeconomy #urbanlighting
