An estimated 39 million people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS, with 2.3 million in India alone. Until there's a vaccine, the significance of early diagnosis and immediate care for HIV patients can't be overstated. Today is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day (#HVAD) and we're highlighting our work in India with AHF India Cares to screen patients and connect them with care, so they can receive the necessary treatment as quickly as possible: https://lnkd.in/g7HbW4KT Learn more about our global health work: https://lnkd.in/ghUpS-9U #HIV | #AIDS | #Vaccine | #India | AIDS Healthcare Foundation | #GlobalHealth | #Development | #ImpactAtScale

UPDATE: UK aid has been successfully delivered to the Gaza shore today, in the first delivery across the US-built temporary pier: https://lnkd.in/giENg4dg ------------ "This pier will play a vital role in getting aid to those who need it in Gaza, but it must be accompanied by an increase in aid delivered through land routes," says UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron. #UKaid left Cyprus this week for the first delivery to a new temporary pier off #Gaza, including an initial contribution that will total nearly 100 tonnes of temporary shelters. The UK Government’s response to the humanitarian need in Gaza is supported by HSOT – the Humanitarian and Stabilisation Operations Team, funded by the UK and managed by Palladium. The opening of the maritime corridor is not a replacement for aid being delivered through land routes, which remain the quickest and most effective way of getting much-needed aid into Gaza. https://lnkd.in/e2ZBJ623

"Considering the needs of people with disabilities shouldn't be optional," Palladium's Chief Diversity Officer Dr Rosanna Duncan writes this week for The Canberra Times. "Disability equity must be mainstreamed across development sectors, with specific focus on climate resilience, humanitarian relief, infrastructure, and assistive technology.” Rosanna explains what’s needed to ensure that people with disabilities are included in, and benefit from, development programs. “Including people with disability is central to achieving the vision of a world that leaves no one behind, where universal access to opportunities is upheld, safety is guaranteed, and all individuals are treated fairly.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/ghu2tDmZ #Development | #DisabilityInclusion | #LeaveNoOneBehind | #DevelopmentMatters | #EDI | #Inclusion | #ChiefDiversityOfficer | #Australia | #Development | #ImpactAtScale

Our Market Development Facility (MDF) recently surveyed nearly 100 of Tonga's vanilla farmers, revealing some valuable insights for the sector. Did you know that most farmers in Tonga are growing on only one acre of land? And few farmers use store bought 'agri-inputs' such as pesticides and herbicides. Instead, they're spending their money on land preparation and labour. MDF promotes sustainable economic development, through higher incomes for women and men, in our partner countries across the Pacific. Data like this helps us do that. NEW PUBLICATION! Palladium's Anna Lisi and Michelle Li and Palladium alum Nena do Nascimento are Guest Editors on a new special edition of the Oxford University Press' Open Digital Health journal. Drawing on two years of research led by our USAID-funded Data.FI Project, the issue explores USAID's global COVID-19 vaccine delivery investments and asks whether health systems can come out stronger overall once a crisis has passed. "It is rare to have the opportunity to bring together multiple USAID funded projects and so many great minds to research and reflect on an emergency health response and what it means for digital health," says Nena. "So excited to get this journal supplement out to the broader community!"
