There is great potential for innovation in #publicprocurement processes to drive change in food systems. This has now been recognised by the European Commission's Innovation Radar initiative, which recently identified ICLEI Europe's guide on 'Innovative Criteria and Models for Procurement of Sustainable and Healthy School Meals' as an innovative tool, confirming the potential of public procurement to accelerate the transformation of food systems. 🏆 The guide is tailored to procurement professionals responsible for food and catering tenders at the municipal level, as well as policy makers, contracting authorities, farmers, and producers. It contains: 🚀 actionable and legally sound procurement targets, ✔ ❌ suggestions for selection and award criteria, + technical specifications, relevant in the public procurement tendering process, and 🏙 concrete examples of successful implementation gathered as part of the EU-funded #SchoolFood4Change project, empowering cities to drive systemic change.
