Today we’ve announced a new research collaboration with Sanctuary AI. This collaboration marks a key step forward in Microsoft's research in embodied #AI (EAI): foundation #models and other scalable capabilities for systems that interact with the virtual and physical world. This research could enable new classes of systems such as general-purpose #robots that combine physical capabilities like manipulation and mobility with cognitive capabilities such as reasoning under uncertainty. Together with collaborators across industry and academia, we are advancing research directions including multimodal sensory #perception, spatially and temporally grounded #reasoning, efficient long-horizon #planning, goal-oriented behaviors, and #safe and #effective collaboration among humans and intelligent systems. I can’t think of a better place than Microsoft to foster an EAI research ecosystem toward deeper scientific understanding, impactful applications, and new tools to #empower people across many fields of work.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s a good reminder to check-in with ourselves and think about how we can better protect our #wellbeing. Balancing the stresses of work and life is not easy. I’ve had my own share of struggles in finding that balance. So how can we build better routines for ourselves and find ways to recharge our energy? That was one of the topics I discussed with Arianna Huffington on the latest episode of #Pivotal, which is out today. Among her many achievements, Arianna is the founder and current CEO of Thrive Global, a behavioral change technology company with a mission to improve productivity and healthy outcomes for workers around the world. Her passion for this began when she had her own, harrowing experience with burnout, and Thrive came out of what she learned about how to manage her own stress. For years, Arianna and I have been discussing how technology can help us protect our wellbeing. In this episode, we share how the Thrive platform guides workers towards healthier behaviors, with science-based micro-steps that can make a big difference in getting us to eat better, sleep better, move better, manage stress, and grow our connection with others. We also dive into how #AI has the potential to make this experience even more frictionless. Can you imagine having an AI-powered personal coach who knows your preferences, understands your work habits, and serves up activities and small behavioral changes at the right moments in your day?
