Next Gen of future icons ✨ Last night, London Design Biennale and LDF’s Head of Content Sujata Burman spoke on a panel for the next generation of cultural leaders hosted by Brunswick Arts at the Delfina Foundation 💬 Joined by Bolanle Tajudeen, Founder of Black Blossoms School of Art and Culture, a curatorial platform and online art school, and opened by Aaron Cezar, director of the Delfina Foundation, the panel celebrated emerging creative leaders and journalists. Panelists shared their career journeys and offered advice on the current landscape for the next generation. “With Sadiq’s backing, I believe the sector can continue to grow and create jobs,” LDF Director Ben Evans told the Evening Standard in light of Khan’s promise to “turbo-charge” a cultural reboot for our capital following the Mayoral election next month. London’s cultural and creative industries are on course to deliver a £3 billion boost to the capital’s economy by 2028. Working in partnership with the Mayor of London, London Design Festival plays a pivotal role in promoting the design sector and positioning London as a global design capital. This week we’re looking back in order to look forward. Campaign, community and resource platform Design Can has published its annual report on how it has been helping to shift the power balance in the design industry. From mentoring to a jobs board, Design Can has been expanding since it launched in 2019. This time last year, London Design Festival co-hosted a roundtable event where studio leads and managers left the room with tools to embed learnings into their own teams, and make changes to become truly inclusive and representative. “While many in the design industry are constantly discussing the change that needs to happen for an equitable future, Design Can are focussed on practical and actionable change,” notes Sujata Burman, Head of Content at LDF. “They created a safe space for people to ask the difficult questions and allowed them to feel more equipped to start the journey.” 💡 Design for change. London Design Biennale announces Samuel Ross MBE as the 2025 Artistic Director.
