Launching ASSURE (Accelerating Sustainable and Super-efficient Real Estate), Dr Satish Kumar, President and Executive Director, AEEE emphasised the crucial role of energy-efficient designs and systems in preventing energy loss in buildings. Built on robust industry frameworks, ASSURE aims to decarbonise India’s commercial building sector and solidify global leadership in climate action and sustainability. Dr Kumar highlighted the importance of existing frameworks such as the Standards and Labelling Programme for appliances, the Energy Conservation Building Code, and various green building certifications. ASSURE integrates these elements while focusing on energy, water, and carbon efficiency. The ASSURE initiative will embrace the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), ensuring credibility and accountability in our energy-saving initiatives. Setting ambitious targets for reducing the Energy Performance Index, slashing the typical connected load, and elevating the cooling efficiency of buildings, ASSURE calls for collective action to exceed standards and pioneer new levels of sustainability. Introducing ASSURE (Accelerating Sustainable and Super-efficient Real Estate) to decarbonise India’s commercial building sector and solidify our global leadership in climate action and sustainability. With a vision to realise 100 million sq. ft. of high-performance commercial buildings in India by 2030, ASSURE is a collaborative effort led by industry leaders AEEE, Indian Institute for Human Settlements, and Infosys. This groundbreaking initiative is set to be the world's largest organised effort for implementing high-performance buildings at scale. By uniting the sectoral ecosystem, ASSURE will provide technical assistance, drive ecosystem-wide capacity development, showcase viability inspired by sustainable buildings worldwide, foster entrepreneurship, support policies, and engage with financial institutions to implement high-performance commercial buildings. As part of the strategic MoU with Green Energy Transition Research Institute (GETRI), AEEE conducted a training program in #Vadodara from 23-24 April 2024 on ‘Energy Audit and Measurement & Verification (M&V).’ With over 70 enthusiastic participants (mostly Energy Auditors/Energy Managers) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) and subsidiary companies in attendance, the training program was an incredible success! The training program was meticulously crafted to equip attendees with the latest tools and insights to spearhead energy efficiency initiatives. From theoretical deep dives to hands-on practical demonstrations with energy audit portable instruments, participants delved into topics like the EC Act; PAT scheme; ESCO business; Measurement and Verification (as per IPMVP Protocol); types and processes of energy audits; procurement process; and more.
