"We’re in one of the most exciting disruptions any of us have seen in our lifetimes" – that was the message from our Global Head of AI Tim Wark at the recent BST Global #AISummit. “From a cultural and business change point of view – whether it’s technical people, whether it’s senior leaders or whether it’s other deep domain experts – we’re seeing a huge number of people start to grasp how AI will change their careers, and our business.”   He also sat down with Javier A. Baldor, BST Global’s chief executive officer, for the inaugural episode of the "The Trailblazers" podcast. Today’s People Spotlight features Lucy Latham, a principal consultant from our Energy, Environment and Water business in the United Kingdom.    Lucy has almost 15 years of experience leading international sustainability programs and delivering environmental consultancy services for high-impact organizations, including the World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. She recently worked with C40 Cities — a global network of nearly 100 mayors of the world's leading cities — to develop training materials that will equip planners and city officials with the tools to embed equity, inclusion and sustainability into their project preparation cycles.    “It was a great first lesson in AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies strategy and our commitments towards embedding sustainable development and resilience and improving social outcomes,” she writes, “We hope these brilliant resources will support other projects across AECOM and identify more opportunities for integrating equity and inclusion into our service offering.”    Read more about her work: https://lnkd.in/eyMih4BG   #AECOM #AECOMVoices #PeopleSpotlight #Water #Environment #Sustainability

We’re excited to share our selection by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to deliver the drainage tunnels for the next phase of its $4.5 billion Capital Express (CapEx) Central project in Austin.  The project will include the delivery of two large-diameter drainage tunnels and a pump station along the vital I-35 corridor serving the state’s capital. We’ll oversee the development of the two tunnels, which will collect stormwater and function as a drainage conveyance system, safely guiding water beneath the road without disrupting traffic or above-ground infrastructure.  Once complete, the I-35 CapEx Central project is expected to enhance safety, alleviate congestion, optimize operations, and establish a more reliable route for all travelers, including bicyclists, pedestrians, emergency responders and transit users. “With extensive experience working on more than 2,000 miles of tunnel projects worldwide, we are excited to partner with TxDOT on this technically complex project, which will serve as a key foundation for the CapEx Central project,” said Matthew Crane, chief executive of our U.S. West region. Today’s People Spotlight features Kunal Olimattel, Ph.D., E.I., a civil engineer from our Water business line in the U.S. East region.    Inspired by her grandfather, who was also a civil engineer, Kunal joined the industry to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Today, she's doing just that — delivering vital water and wastewater treatment projects with an emphasis on removing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). On her latest project, she’s working with the Toho Water Authority to develop solutions to improve the quality of tap water and meet the growing needs of communities in Central Florida.    “As an engineer, there is nothing more gratifying than seeing projects come to fruition,” she writes, “Something that I test at bench scale can then go out in the plant and serve thousands of people.”    Read more about her work: https://lnkd.in/dxWEPfZX   #AECOM #PeopleSpotlight
