"As an engineer by trade, I know that our workplace needs strong female role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and I'm delighted to acknowledge International #GirlsinICT Day!" UITP President Renée Amilcar is a trailblazer, but what does that mean? 🚌 At Société de transport de Montréal (STM) she was the first female Director of Bus Maintenance, eventually leading a team of more than 5,300 employees and a fleet of 1,800 buses. 🔋 She became the first female General Manager of OC Transpo, overseeing - among other things - the conversion of the full bus fleet to emission-free buses by 2036. 🎙 She took the stage at the United Nations General Assembly, representing the entire public transport sector and showcasing its role in building a better future. 👏 And of course, we are super proud that she is the first ever female President of UITP! The theme of this year's Girls in ICT Day celebrates 'Leadership'. Renée Amilcar: "Since becoming UITP's first female President, I have continued to place a spotlight on diversity, inclusion, and gender equity across our sector."
