About the Role

The Assistant Director of the NYU Urban Initiative will be the key point person for this University-wide area of scholarly strength. Working closely with the Office of the Provost, NYU Wagner, and other schools and programs across NYU, the role will manage this effort and connect, coordinate, unite, as well as grow all of NYU’s efforts in the urban space.

What You're Gonna Do

The role will raise awareness about this University Initiative and foster collaboration between University offices and faculty. The Assistant Director will be responsible for: - Managing high-level projects; - Creating structure, governance, and policies; - Providing recommendations and strategy for urban projects and initiatives; - Serving as a liaison and representing Wagner in an array of events and meetings both internally and externally; - Managing, planning, and executing events, as well as collaborating with University offices for University-wide events.

About You

Required Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or Journalism Required Experience: This position requires a minimum of 3 years or more of relevant experience with project management and/or program management working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders. Relevant event and/or conference planning experience is also required. Preferred Experience: Related experience in an academic, research, or government environment. Experience in a fast paced, executive-level environment is preferred. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: A creative self-starter who is entrepreneurial and detail oriented. Excellent problem-solving, writing, and communication skills. Must demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills, as well as interpersonal skills such as relationship building and an ability to work well with others. The ability to multitask and prioritize work is also needed. Critical thinking with the ability to conceive and implement strategies, policies, and processes to assist the Dean, Wagner leadership, faculty, and University offices with projects and initiatives. Knowledge of the NYC environment desirable. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with MS Office suite, event and conference planning. Experience with PM tools is a plus.
